In continuation of our last blog posts, we will be discussing another use case for iBeacon asset tracking in this article which includes a use case where your asset is moving. This may be a usual use case of asset tracking in hospitals, where a medical equipment keeps on moving from one department or floor to another.
Challenge
Consider an operational challenge faced by hospitals on daily basis where a medical equipment to be used in operation theatre could not be found when required. This usually happens when equipment is used by some other department and they forget to return it to designated place, causing hassle for other departments when they need the same.
Solution
iBeacon asset tracking is quite effective in resolving above challenges. Solution implementation will require tagging of medical equipment with iBeacon tags and placing of BLE Gateways or receivers around the hospital premises.
As medical equipment tagged with iBeacon tags moves around the premises, BLE gateways and receivers get their precise location and send to server, giving you real time location of equipment within premises.
You can also designate a gateway to central location where all your medical equipment ate stored and get alerts whenever equipment is moved from the location. You can authorise admin rights to authenticate movement and generate alerts to higher authorities in case movement is not authorised.
